REMEMBER
KALEIDOSCOPES?
How could you forget?
Most Baby Boomers had one... a telescope-like tube containing carefully-aligned mirrors that altered the appearance of anything you viewed through the peep hole. The effect was a bit like peering into another world - a fascinating and foreign world of great beauty that you could visit again and again.
Digital Artist Nancy Roux has been honing a technique during the past year for extracting kaleidoscopic artwork from her own original photography.
What began as a creative experiment quickly became a remarkable personal journey, as she has been learning how to "co-create" artwork in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
So what's the connection between kaleidoscopes and spiritually-inspired art? Simply stated, both reveal a new perspective through which you can experience great beauty simply by looking within and seeking out the light.

SURPRISES AT
EVERY TURN
One of the most exciting aspects of creating kaleidoscopic art is - surprise! - never knowing what the finished artwork will look like.
Nancy Roux's kaleidoscopes begin with a single triangular area cropped from a traditional digital photograph. That single piece is replicated many times over; each new piece is then rotated and positioned along common edges creating a hexagonal image. Surprise again - unplanned, unexpected images show up the where mirrored edges meet!
Next comes image editing and manipulation: altering color, tonal range, layer order and opacity, filtration and special effects to radically modify the appearance of the original photography. All of which results in yet more surprises.
The entire creative process is full of delightful, unexpected surprises as the artwork takes on a Look and meaning all its own. The act of listening to and following the voice of God during the creative process is pure joy. And, by the time a title has emerged, the finished artwork is poised to engage with others on a deep personal level.

kALEIDOSCOPES
AS PROPHETIC ART
What exactly is prophetic art?
In his book, " A Practical Guide to Creating with the Holy Spirit", acclaimed artist, author and international speaker Matt Tommey offers this explanation:
“Creating with the Holy Spirit is... about cultivating ears to hear, eyes to see, and senses to feel what God is saying and doing within your world. Then, responding through your chosen creative process. That is prophetic art.”
Tommey, founder of the Created to Thrive Artists Mentoring Program, provides spiritual insight, teaching, entrepreneurial coaching and motivation to thousands of working artists - including Nancy Roux herself. In the time she has been involved with the program, Nancy has learned how to engage and experience the deep spiritual connection of "co-creating" both abstract and kaleidoscopic artwork that connects with the viewer and touches the soul on a deep, personal level.
